Ecuador's Consulate and New York Trade Office

The Consulate is located in a 20,000 SF floor in a commercial office condominium near the UN.

The Consulate is provided with a large waiting area to serve the large volume of visitors who use the facility on a daily basis. This space also doubles as an event space to be used for national celebrations and UN diplomatic events.

Because the country’s name refers to its location and its most emblematic national landmark is a monument straddling the equator and referred to, for obvious reasons, as “Mitad-Del-Mundo” (Half-of-the-Earth), we have incorporated this theme as a major design element. Through the use of wall and ceiling LED light box murals, the “Monument” is the image you first see when you step off the elevator lobby including a replica of the “equator” line on the floor dividing the building into north and south sections, just like the real one in Ecuador, a line that actually divides the two hemispheres.
